Our Community
Tala Pasifika have established a National Pacific Community Action Group (NCAG). The purpose of this group is to ensure that Pacific communities across New Zealand are actively involved in the implementation of service programmes.
The focus of the group will be on community action and developing members to become community champions and advocates for smokefree Pacific communities. NCAG members have been community nominated and will sit on the group for a two year term.
NCAG consists of up to 20 Pacific community representatives who are representative of:
- Different ethnic groups
- Different regions across New Zealand
- NZ born and Island born perspectives
- Various age groups
- Both male and female
- Smokefree lifestyles
Training and support is made available to ensure that Action Group members have the confidence to speak out against smoking as "community champions" or "spokespersons" from the communities they represent. The training enables Action Group members to develop their own community driven solutions to eliminate tobacco use from their communities.
How to get involved?
