Our Name

Our Name

The name Tala Pasifika was suggested by Pacific community leaders and translates to mean Pacific storytelling, to inform Pacific peoples and to coverse in a Pacific way.  The name Tala Pasifika represents a call to action for Pacific peoples.  Tala Pasifika is about making sure that the Pacific voice is heard and that diverse Pacific perspectives are represented as part of the talanoa for smokefree and tobacco elimination.

The logo and design are isnpired by the Conch shell, a mechanism widely used throughout the Pacific to gather people for a cause worthy of its significant sound.  The concept refers to precolonial Pacific methods used to inform people of important events and issues, and symbolises a call to collective community action.
